The Shulamite Confession

The words of King Lemuel, the utterance which his mother taught him:
What, my son?
And what, son of my womb?
And what, son of my vows?
Do not give your strength to women,
Nor your ways to that which destroys kings.
It is not for kings, O Lemuel,
It is not for kings to drink wine,
Nor for princes intoxicating drink;
Lest they drink and forget the law,
And pervert the justice of all the afflicted.
Give strong drink to him who is perishing,
And wine to those who are bitter of heart.
Let him drink and forget his poverty,
And remember his misery no more.
Open your mouth for the speechless,

Greetings
It is my hope that all of you have experienced the great blessings of our Lord Jesus Christ and the wonderful communion of the saints during this special time of honoring of our mothers within our churches.
A Mother’s Plea
In this passage above, while many will accept the quotation of King Lemuel from his mother as advice, and it most certainly is, but for me, it sounds so much more like a plea.
A plea from a mother to her son that begs him to acknowledge that the pursual of women is a worthless endeavor. A mother understands that all such endeavors pursued by her son to find the right woman in his life is really a gift given by God that is only given when he has first found favor with God.
A plea for her son to understand that power, great riches, silver, and gold are truly not the things he should be focused upon for his success in life, rather, she pleas for him to seek a good name and favor in the eyes of the people of God. She knows the love of the world and realizes when men who seek riches have lost all, they have lost their friends as well. Her son will have obtained greater riches: the love and loyalty of the people, which truly endures to all generations.
A plea that reminds her son to never forget that he is first and foremost a champion of the people. A champion who speaks up for those who have not the ability to speak for themselves for fear of retaliation from those who have power over them, to uphold the cause of making certain that those who have been sentenced to death have been given righteous judgment. Her plea to her son to speak up for the causes of the poor and needy will most certainly make her son a champion of the people.
A Son’s Gift to His Mother
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ. My hope and prayer is that many of you understand the significance of the Shulamite Confession. In essence, it is my 95 theses to the Church. Nevertheless, it is my hope as a good son to obey the law of my mother.

Gracious Heavenly Father, we give You thanks for the power and name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. We know He is the true Champion of the People. Your Son, Jesus Christ is above all things and rules over all. We thank You for the precious blood of Jesus Christ and pray, Father, that His blood would cleanse us from all of our unrighteousness. Give us strength, Father, in the power of Your Holy Ghost to walk in the likeness of Your precious Son, Jesus Christ, Who is God in the Flesh. Amen.
